Between 1780 and 1830, a certain number of women tried to create themselves a role in the painting industry, which at that time was not so easy. The exhibition is showing some of their work, most of them still being unknown. About 80 master pieces are presented, painted by Vigée Lebrun, Constance Mayer and many others including unfairly unknown artists. This highlight made on female painters enable visitors to learn more about the art training conditions, their status during the period covered and the fights they had to lead to produce and exhibit their works. More than the light of the art salons, it also gives an overview of the female artist daily lives. Considering the nowadays importance of feminism, this exhibition is a very interesting visit.
