As summer sun approaches the city of lights the quest for charming and sun lid terraces begins. Les Climats recently opened by the owners of „Royal Madeleine“ not only offers a prime location, a few steps from the Musée d’Orsay and Pont Royal, but also one of Paris’ best kept secrets: A private and sunny courtyard equipped with beautiful white garden furniture, green plants and an (artificial) greenery.
For those preferring watching sunlight without risking a sunburn, the beautifully decorated winter garden, facing the courtyard, is an elegant and comfortable alternative. While the restaurant’s interior balances between a Parisian brasserie – chic and art deco restaurant, realized by interior designer Bambi Sloan, the wine list pays homage to the Burgundy region. Put together like a book all of the Burgundy areas and vineyards are represented with an own chapter. The impressive selection of over 580 wines features fine and rare bottles at the same time while also keeping young and exciting ones at moderate prices on the list.
Vietnamese chef Chi Tam Phan, formerly at the Hotel Ritz under Michel Roth and with Thierry Marx at the Mandarin Oriental, cooks up light, contemporary and subtle dishes that stun in their presentation as well as offering a wide range of refined flavors. Light and perfectly executed dishes such as smoked mackerel on white radish and lemon confit vinaigrette, grilled asparagus with colonnata lard and hen’s egg, Irish salmon with sweet potato puree and orange-yuzu emulsion and crusty roasted chicken with garden vegetables and ginger jus go very well with the summer sun and hot temperatures accompanied by a fine Burgundy white.
Dessert lovers should not miss one of their signature’s: A snow white (coconut) „ball“ filled with green lemon confit floating in a thick passion fruit – ginger soup. The sun can come, we will be waiting at the Climats’ courtyard!
